Ljudi sastavljaju i prodaju hardver. I to vjerovatno uspješno, jer ne bi opstali sve te godine. I daju podršku za taj hardver. I onda im se jave klijenti sa problemima i željama. I onda moraš čekati na Canonical da se promjena prihvati, ako se prihvati. Nemaš kontrolu. Sve što oni žele, predpostavljam jeste kontrola softvera i hardvera, ono što te čini komercijalnim. Da ispuniš želje korisnika i da budu zadovoljni korisničkim iskustvom, jer ti to znači i bolju prodaju i opstanak tvrtke. Tako npr. radi Apple.
Vjerovatno imaju puno ovakvih slučajeva, gdje po defaultu, Ubuntu dolazi s bugom.

Kako su u partnerstvu s Canonicalom, na redditu naglašavaju da Canonical usporava sa desktop razvojem smanjujući ekipe koje rade na tome, jasno je da ako žele ostati u poslu, taj dio moraju preuzeti na sebe. Od 700 ljudi u Canonicalu, 30% je dobilo otkaz i to većinom oni koju su radili na desktopu.
Not to brag, but we have several million dollars of sales supporting the first statement. As for the second, it's maybe a bit hyperbolic but I think still well founded. Ubuntu desktop may not officially be discontinued, but shuttering the entire department and switching to the lowest maintenance alternative available isn't hard to read.
Canonical got to where it is today, at least at first, by having the one distro that really cared about the desktop user experience. They didn't always get it right, but they were the first to be accessible to everyone, not just hobbyists and IT professionals. They've been pivoting away from that for years now, and from where I'm sitting discontinuing Unity looks like the final nail in the coffin. Mark Shuttleworth has spoken repeatedly and at length about how he sees cloud computing and IoT devices as the future of his company. And he may well be right, but that's not the direction we want to go.
