Of course, today's announcement comes as huge news for those who have always dreamed of having a gorgeous and powerful Ubuntu-powered Dell laptop on their hands to play with, and Dell's Precision 5510, 3510, 7510, and 7710 mobile workstations now all come in Ubuntu flavors, available for purchase worldwide.
"This means our complete Precision mobile workstation portfolio is now available globally with Linux pre-loaded. To get to the Ubuntu option, click on the “Customize & Buy” button on the system you wish to purchase, then select Ubuntu Linux in the operating system section," said Laura P. Thomas, chief blogger for Direct2Dell.com.
As for the 5th generation of the Dell XPS 13 developer edition laptop, U.S. residents can now purchase one from the company's online store. However, it only comes in three different i7 configurations, including one with 16GB RAM. The Ubuntu-powered Dell XPS 13 laptop will be available worldwide later this year, along with an Intel Skylake i5 option.
Dell's announcement also notes the fact that some minor fixes for its XPS 13 DevOps platform, as well as the Precision series have been made available post launch, so make sure that you read Project Sputnik leader Barton George's recent blog post on how to update your Ubuntu installation. Also, the upcoming Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) operating system will be available as an upgrade option soon.
OwnCloud Pi uređaj za kućni cloud će biti baziran na Raspberry Pi 3 računalu, Western Digital tvrdom disku i Snappy Ubuntu Coreu 16.04 LTS.We reported last year that ownCloud was in talks with WD (Western Digital) Labs to help them develop a community project that would bring a self-hosted cloud storage device in users' homes.
The idea behind the self-hosted device, which will be powered by the ownCloud Server software, was to combine a Raspberry Pi single-board computer with a Western Digital disk drive into an easy-to-install and out-of-the-box container.
Well, it looks like the community's response was more than positive, and many great proposals and ideas were received for the ownCloud Pi project. And today, they have even greater news for us, as the first images are available for download.
The ownCloud Pi images are based on the latest Snappy Ubuntu Core 16.04 LTS operating system, which was designed by Canonical for embedded and IoT (Internet of Things) devices, as well as the new Raspberry Pi 3 Model B SBC.
"We’re looking for help in the ownCloud, Ubuntu, Raspberry Pi and WD Labs communities for help to test and improve them and will be able to make available a first batch of about 30 devices at the end of next week," say the ownCloud developers in today's announcement.
Current obstacles, challenges, and the road ahead
At the moment, the team is working hard on finishing their ownCloud Pi device solution based on the Xenial Xerus edition of Snappy Ubuntu Core. Thus, the new 64-bit Raspberry Pi 3 computer helps them with the obstacles encountered during previous tests running on the Raspberry Pi 2 board, such as support for files larger than 2GB.
Therefore, it looks like the decision was taken, and the final ownCloud Pi device, which should be available as a preview later this spring, will be powered by the Raspberry Pi 3 single-board computer. In the coming days, we should be able to purchase the first production-ready version of the ownCloud Pi device

Marco Trevisan mentioned in his quick announcement the fact that one needs to run a command to move the Unity Launcher to the bottom of the screen. Curious to see if it works, we have executed the respective command but nothing happened, and it looks like there's no button or check box in the system settings to allow you to do that.
