There is a “queue of vendors” looking to launch Ubuntu-powered devices, following the launch of the first commercial smartphone by vendor BQ last month, Mark Shuttleworth, founder of Canonical, told Mobile World Live.
“The pitch there is first a fresh experience that’s not as dominated by apps, it’s much more focused on information at your fingertips, much more lightweight access, classy access to all the goodness that you’ll find in a range of services that are essentially web services,” he continued.
Following the launch of the BQ device, Shuttleworth said that “we’ve been delighted with the commentary, the coverage, the enthusiastic adoption”.
“The early devices are for fans only, but we now see a steady pull of demand into interesting markets for this new phone experience,” he said.

Believe it or not, Ubuntu Phones can be jailbroken too, sort of. In a recent blog post, Ubuntu Touch OS developer Michael Zanetti explains how he managed to create a third-part App Store for the Ubuntu Touch mobile operating system that will allow some open doors for power users and developers who want to explore the platform beyond what’s offered to the normal user.

At the moment, there aren’t any details about how to install the Open App Store application on an Ubuntu Phone device, simply because it’s not intended to be used by the normal user who can break the Ubuntu installation. A .click package for Open App Store is provided on Michael Zanetti’s post for Ubuntu hackers and developers who want to test it.

Only two applications are available in the third-party App Store for Ubuntu Touch, but developers are instructed on how to prepare their apps for inclusion on the Open App Store, as well as about the rules. Yes, there are rules, as you can only publish open source apps, and apps that cannot be published in the official Ubuntu Store.

Ionako možeš imati root ovlasti na mobitelu, ne znam kakve to aplikacije ne bi mogle u službeni Store, vjerovatno neke koje bi se smatrale nesigurnim jer se vrte sa više dozvola nego standardne click aplikacije.

Malo zna zatrokirati, čekam na 15.04 image da vidim što su sve popravili.

Najvjerovatnije oko izlaska desktop verzije 15.04, tako sam ja čuo, to je za par tjedana

Inace probao sam stavit devel verziju i ima dosta poboljsanja, drugacije upravljanje scopovima, tabovi u browseru drugacije koncipirani, imam feel da je malo brzi i tako, puno stvari uglavnom.. Ali nije to za svakodnevnu upotrebu, svaki dan nesto drugo fali ili ne radi..

E jel ti se da napravit njuskalo webapp? Puno brze je tako nego preko browsera uvijek tipkat... Nemam gdje instalirati ubuntu-sdk pa da ga se sam uhvatim..
